If you are anything like us, then you LOVE outdoor hammocking. It gives you an excuse to lounge around, while still enjoying nature. Actually, you can even look quite ‘adventurous’ just by setting up a hammock and taking a nap. It’s pretty much one of the best things you can do for your Instagram feed and for your peace of mind.
However, winter may try to put a damper on your hammock-loving soul. Lucky for you, and really all of us, the cold weather doesn’t have to ruin everything. Actually, it can put a spin on hammocking and make it completely new and exciting again.
Here is your ultimate guide to hammocking in the wintery white outdoors.
Find a Free Weekend.
January and February can be pretty busy months.
It's worth finding time for outdoor hammocking, though. We promise.
Use your next free weekend to have this relaxing, hammocking adventure, before the snow melts and blankets are no longer necessarily.
Get Your Hands on a Hammock.
Get a hammock or borrow a friend’s hammock. This is an obvious step, but if you do not complete this step, you will never get to experience winter hammocking. And let us tell you, you have got to try it!
If you don’t have your own hammock yet, you can get one here. It has room for you, your loved one, and a furry friend.
It’s an outdoors double hammock, which means double the cuddles and double the warmth.
Find Your Hammocking Destination.
Do some research and find a hammocking destination. You will want somewhere close to a well-plowed road so you can get there and back home easily. No one wants to end their winter hammocking adventure stuck on some snow.
Also, try to find somewhere with a view.
It’s not going to be sincere winter hammocking unless you’re really enjoying the white wonderland around you.
Dress in layers in case it gets a little too cold or warm inside your hammock. Gloves, hats, scarfs—bring them all.
This is a case when ‘athleisure,’ athletic clothing to wear while at leisure, can really come in handy.
Find every warm and soft blanket you own and bring it with you.
Winter hammocking just went to the extreme: extremely comfortable.
Don’t forget to bring some pillows so you can prop yourself up to see the view, read a book, or drink hot chocolate.
Find a winter-perfect snack to bring with you.
The cold air and a warm hammock might give you cravings for some popcorn or melt-in-your-mouth chocolate.
Doesn't that s'more just look delicious? It for sure looks like something we must add to our next hammock camping trip.
Did We Mention Hot Chocolate and a Good Book?
Warm up some hot chocolate. If it’s fat-free, that’s even better. Whatever the case, make sure it’s nice and hot so that it stays warm for your whole winter hammocking experience. We recommend putting it in a spill-proof thermos, so as not to cause any hiccups in your winter trip.
Grab a good book too. It takes a bit of effort to go winter hammocking. You don’t want to drive to the top of a nice mountain view, and then get bored after only a few minutes. Bring a good book to keep you entertained. It will help you fully relax.
Find a Friend, or a Dog, or Both.
Blankets, food, and hot chocolate can all help keep you warm. The best thing to bring, though, is a friend, be it human or four-legged.
Plus, it’s always nice to have good company and extra body heat in the middle of winter. You’ll feel safer too.
It makes for some nice winter cuddles and hearty laughs.
Take Your Camera.
Winter hammocking is quite picturesque.
You’re going to want to take some photos so you can really remember your fun winter adventure.
Maybe some of your friends will see your outdoor hammocking photos and want to come along next time.
Hot Chocolate? Blankets? Popcorn? A Cute Dog?
Combine all of these with a hammock and you have your ultimate hammocking adventure. It’s unquestionably an adventure worth taking and a memory worth having.
Didn’t we say that winter can make hammocking just that much better? Next time you go hammocking, be it the first or the 20th time, take a picture and tag us @liveinfinitely. We want to follow along on your adventures.
