Gear straps? What the heck are gear straps? Glad you asked! It's a new concept that fills a void in the outdoor market that has been needed for a long time now!
Take this scenario for example - you're out camping with your family, everything is going great until the rain comes in strong and leaves the ground a puddle of mud. What do you do? If you hiked up into the mountain, the only option for a clean and dry location would be your tent. Now that's fine if you don't mind giving up your sleeping space to host your backpack and food.
Now enter gear-hanging straps...
Same scenario, this time you brought your gear hanging straps. Quickly you set up your straps on a nearby tree, and with the 6 (12 connection points) aluminum T hooks and you're able to get your backpack, cooking utensils, shoes, drinks and more off the ground.
Such a simple yet SMALL solution that you'll wonder how you ever survived before without it!
Living and hiking in Southeast Alaska, which is in the Tongass National Rainforest, means we get wet! Up until now we always look for the driest spot to drop our gear while setting up the tent but the packs inevitably get wet. Now we sling the pack strap around a tree and our gear gets stashed off the ground!! It's awesome!!!
These are on of my favorite purchases this past year! They stay in my pack when not in use and use every time I go hammocking! Pull it out hang it around a tree and hang your bag up! If you need to unload your bag just hang each item as you take it out! Anything with a string or a strap! No more setting stuff on the ground, or in the mud! Must have! Awesome price! Get one!
In general I love the product IDEA and design, and the quality of the strap is great, functionally I was a bit underwhelmed. The T hooks are sharp.... they don't seem to cut but they certainly feel like they could . When I hung my pack on the hook to get set up it ended up sliding down the strap, I had to use 2 hooks, one for my pack and one to stop the first one from sliding. Then the same thing for my day pack, I know I do pack a bit heavy , but not THAT heavy. It worked great for my boots , I have heel tabs that hooked on nicely and my camp towel and clean up kit were good. It was nice not to have to find a branch nub to hang stuff on, but maybe consider a REV. 1 edition with a couple of fixes , or maybe I need to cut the handle off my tooth brush and not carry clean underwear.......
Haven’t used it yet . Part of my bug out bag
Pack strap is what everyone needs to keep gear off the ground, up and out of the way. Excellent product and is a must!
