THE GLORIOUS DAYS OF SUMMER ARE FINALLY HERE AND WE KNOW YOU’VE BEEN ACHING FOR ADVENTURE. Well, we’ve been thinking and there are some really cool things you can do this summer to spruce things up and make that adventure happen. We’re not talking about hammocking in your backyard or just heading to the movies. What we are talking about is five summer activities that are going to be all the rage because they’re cheap, exhilarating, and full of adventure. ARE YOU READY FOR THE SUMMER OF YOUR LIFE?
1. DO SOME ACTUAL STARGAZING
Yeah, you can go on your neighbor’s roof or down the road to the park with a soft flannel blanket, but what we’re talking about here is a total different galaxy.ACTUAL STARGAZING REQUIRES THAT YOU GET AWAY FROM THE CITY, HOURS AWAY, PREFERABLY TO A DARK SKY PARK. WE’RE SERIOUS! They actually have parks that are protected from light pollution. That means you can see much more of the Milky Way and discover the true beauty of stargazing. You’ll find that your breath is actually taken away. It will be like going to the movies, where everyone is silent, captivated by a masterpiece. So please, for the sake of your soul and the adventure lover in you, find a place to see more than just a few stars. See the world.
2. BRING BACK THE SLIP AND SLIDE, BUT THROW IN AN AIR LOUNGER
Remember elementary school field trips with the huge slip and slide? It was the time of your life as an 8-year-old right? We’re here to say that if life is to be lived to the fullest, the slip and slide should be for adults too. MAKE IT BIGGER AND BETTER, AND ADD AN AIR LOUNGER. It’s like riding a couch down a hill, but cooler. All you need is a giant tarp, or multiple large tarps, a hill, water, and an air lounger. This really is the ultimate way to spend a hot summer day.
3. TAKE A MOUNTAIN RESPITE: HIKE AND HAMMOCK FOR A WHOLE DAY
Grab your backpack, your hammock, and your best friend. Spend a whole day on the mountains. Make it an adventure trip where you alternate scenic views and exercise with a nice nap, swaying between two trees. There’s nothing better than foraying through the mountains or the woods, with the ability to sleep like a baby when you need a break. YOU MIGHT FIND YOU WANT TO SPEND EVERY FREE DAY OF YOUR SUMMER DOING THE MOUNTAIN. Respite, as we like to call it. If you’re really looking for some downtime, go alone. Hike in a trusted, well-known area, and tell someone where you’re going and when you should be expected back.
4. EXPLORE YOUR OWN BACKYARD
To find true adventure, you don’t have to book an expensive ticket to Iceland. Just go past your backyard fence, beyond your neighborhood, and into the environment around you. We know you probably have your favorite hikes and outdoor locations already, but find somewhere new. THE WORLD IS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN WE ALLOW IT TO BE. JUST EXPLORE. You’ll never know what new great locations your find or the kind of cool people you’ll meet. We all live somewhere different. Get to know your ‘somewhere.’
5. BOOK OUT A WHOLE CAMPGROUND
Camping is a great way to get some peace, but if you really want to do something bold and adventurous this summer, connect with a large group of people who are game for a weekend in the woods. It’s a great way to make new friends and opt outside. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY CONSIDER PUTTING IT ON YOUR SUMMER BUCKET LIST.Plus, with a lot of people, you can do a whole lot more. You can have a whole game of hide and seek, volleyball, and so much more. Bring along the dogs too!
Now you’ve got a solid list of crazy awesome things to do with your friends thissummer that are cheap, fun, and will take you outside. What’s one of your outdoor summer traditions? We’d love to hear from you. Comment below.HERE’S TO LIVING INFINITELY!
